THE PROGRAM
MusiQuest coordinates in advance with the music department heads of Universities and Magnet High Schools.
Artist's charts are sent for distribution to students 10 days - 2 weeks before the performance. Participating schools provide
this opportunity to only their most dedicated aspiring musicians. MusiQuest contacts venue, university, and artists to
coordinate all advance technical aspects for each performance.
Dr. Tom Elliot, noted conductor and music educator, and musical director Mariano Longo are on location at the participating
school 1 full day before the performance. They evaluate chosen student players on their individual parts and then conduct
sectional rehearsals for brass, woodwinds and strings. By the day of the performance, Dr. Elliot has the music prepared
and the student orchestra assembled. With the cooperation of your local A.F.M., we will select three professional section
leaders: - Trumpet, Woodwind, and Violin. We have found that the students benefit tremendously from sitting next to a "Pro"
gaining invaluable experience in music and business!
The full rehearsal on the day of the show involves all parties and the Artist's rhythm section. Our Musical Dir. Mariano Longo,
conducts this rehearsal and sets the order of the show. This intensive preparation challenges these aspiring musicians to "step up"
to the rigors of the real life concert.
Why get involved?
- To provide an educational/interactive fundraising experience for our youth.
- To support local professional union musicians.
- To increase ticket sales for the local promoters by expanding the audience to include young people, their families and local businesses.
- The artist benefits from a full re-orchestration of their hit recordings in concert!
- The audience experiences live music in its PUREST form!
MusiQuest can be added to any national artist of your choice as agreed upon.
